Welcome to Sweet Paeds Therapy!
Sweet Paeds Therapy is a private Occupational Therapy service located in Pakenham, Victoria. We practice across two sites (conveniently located next door to each other!) that include individual consulting rooms, as well as a shared Sensory Integration gym. We provide a range of occupational therapy services including in-clinic assessment and intervention, community-based consultations (for example: kindergartens, schools and homes.), report writing (assessment, funding applications, progress reporting, letters of support, equipment), group therapy, parent coaching, and parent support groups.
Our occupational therapists are passionate about our role in paediatric care. We care deeply about how we can best support each child to reach their full potential. We utilise a strength-based, neurodevelopmental approach. This means that we view development as an organised sequence. We begin by learning about child what the child can do throughout the assessment process. By understanding the skills that a child has mastered, we can then assist them to reach the next developmentally appropriate skill. Whilst our therapists have a strong understanding of typical development and age appropriate skills, our role is to assist the child to continue to develop on their own individual developmental path. Following the assessment process, we tailor each therapeutic intervention plan individually for each child to help them achieve their goals.
Our Mission
To provide best practice, evidence-based
occupational therapy for children.
We maintain high standards of care for children and families through the commitment to ongoing education, support and professional development of our occupational therapists.
In order to maintain registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), registered occupational therapists must complete a minimum requirement of professional development each year in order to stay up to date with current research and continually improve practice standards. We feel strongly about the education and development of our therapists, therefore our service offers additional opportunities for our therapists to complete further study throughout each year with the purpose of reaching their greatest potential, and in turn provide best practice care for children.
We value integrity, respect, collaboration, and accountability.
Our Philosophy
We believe you can. We believe you will.
We believe every child deserves to be respected, empowered and supported to reach their full potential. We deeply care about a child's self-worth and self-esteem. To make progress, we support and challenge the child's skills. Our approach to therapy means that we believe in the child! We believe that the child can do hard things and we want them to know that they can do hard things too! Our focus is on the child's participation, engagement, effort and motivation, as well as the outcome.
Why choose Sweet Paeds?
You are the expert of your child!
We understand and respect that you know your child better than anyone else. Parent intuition is something that is truly remarkable and we know that if something feels right, or wrong, the parent's voice is the best advocate for their child and their needs!A positive experience is everything! We ensure that your child feels safe and supported to achieve their therapy goals. Whether you come to us or we come to you, we promote a positive environment to help your child to feel comfortable and engaged.
Assessment and Therapy Intervention is certainly an important part of helping a child with additional needs become confident and independent. We also believe that parent involvement is an even bigger part in this process and strongly encourage parents to actively participate in sessions. We want each parent to come away from the sessions feeling confident to implement the recommended strategies and follow up at home.
Our therapists are experts in working with children, adolescents and their families. We ensure that our therapists are continually developing their clinical knowledge to provide current, evidence-based interventions and best practice for your child.
